Covid-19: Be Professional & Continue Training – Coach Tony Lokko To Ghanaian Players

Written by on July 3, 2020

Assistant coach for Inter Allies, Coach Tony Lokko has underscored the need for Ghanaian players to show professionalism and continue training amid the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis which has resulted in the cancelation of the football season.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, announced the cancelation of the 2019/2020 season with no declaration of a winner from the 15 matchdays cleared.

With a ban on football activities still in place, players will continue to stay at home without group training until the government says otherwise after the July 31, 2020, date.

Even before that, Coach Tony Lokko has advised players to ensure they continue individual training at home in order to keep fit.

“On a whole, I have been calling on my players to continue with their training following the cancellation of the season. Since they are players and aiming to be professionals it is their duty to make sure they keep themselves in shape by jogging and making themselves fit”, the Inter Allies assistant coach told Bryt FM.

He added, “They are players and know what to do. They must adhere to what their coaches have asked them to do even at home so they can keep their form when football bounces back”.

There is no certainty as to when a new football season will start but the Ghana FA is set to meet next week to start drafting a roadmap that will see to it that the campaign is synchronized with that of the Europeans.
